However, shes being very MSE and cheap about it all and has (somehow) managed to convince our Mum to keep it small..this is no mean fete..I didn't manage it for mine:p

TIA and hope you're all having fun planning your weddings....I know I did:D

She set the date then? Could have given you a bit more notice :rotfl: Of course I know nothing about the Chester/Ellesmere port area but I am here for moral support.

Although I have just found out that some revolution bars do parties so thats a contender for reception:) Luckily they like clubbing & vodka so would be pretty perfect except sis wants pretty:mad: Bleeding typical lol1.11.09 - debt = £45k:eek:

Hiya! Ellesmere Port isn't far from me and my OH grew up there, so I'll ask him this evening if he has any ideas.
How much is she planning on spending??
I know the Holiday Inn in E.Port do packages for £1500, is that too much??Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
Hello and congrats to your sister! I am getting married in Chester in September but live on The Wirral so have been looking for venues between here and Chester and all the bits in between
. It depends if your sister is planning a church or civil wedding. I'm marrying in church so the following didn't really apply to me, but, you could look into The Holiday Inn (Ellesmere Port) or St David's Park Hotel (DeVere) which is 8 miles from Chester - both these hotels offer complete wedding packages, including a Civil Ceremony at fairly reasonable rates. The Saddle Club, Wirral also offers a complete wedding package and although its years since I've been there it looks lovely on the website.
I am on a tiny budget but my Fiance works in Chester so is asking some of the small local hotels if they could accomodate us, I will let you know how we get on and prices we are quoted. We are marrying at 3pm so will be looking to provide a buffet and evening "do" all sort of rolled into one and I think we will be catering for a fairly small number of guests, probably about 50.
Anyway, good luck with your planning...I'm off now to find my dream £10 wedding dress on e-bay (so much more fun than spending £1000's!!)

I mentioned this to her last year when she 1st started talking about it but it's not for them apparently! Did i mention shes awkward?:pHiya! Ellesmere Port isn't far from me and my OH grew up there, so I'll ask him this evening if he has any ideas.

Thanks girls:D Their budget is tiny(think parent are funding most of it) shes getting married at Chester registry office(town hall I think?) so we're looking for a reception for approx 25+ people possibly more if Mum gets her way and all and sundry get invited:rotfl: preferably somewhere a bit different/pretty. Thanks for mention The saddle Club - have emailed her a link and waiting for a response:) Think I'll copy your idea of the smaller hotels as the reception(hopefully) will be a small affair anyway. I did mention a garden party theme but she wasn't too keen..told you she was awkward:DHello and congrats to your sister! Its no problem at all...let me know what she thinks of the Saddle Club, I rechecked their site after I last posted and some of their package deals are brilliant! Getting married "over the anvil" sounds fun and different too
. (I'm trying not to sound like an advert for them...as I said before its been years since i went there!!) If anyone here has more info I would be interested too, last time i looked at their site they didn't have the "reception only do's" so its a possibility now for me too. 0 -
Hi May, I'm on the Wirral too!
Confuzzled, do you know what she actually wants?
ie...
Reg office ceremony
Church ceremony
Venue ceremony
Would she want a wedding breakfast, or just canapes, or maybe a meal somewhere, or maybe a little spread?
What about the night? Big party, little party, what kind of food, what kind of location etc ??Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

Hi Maydot, sorry I'm only answering you here.
I went to the Saddle club last month with my dd and the owner is lovely. Its very 'rustic' inside and the garden area is lovely with york stone laid so you aren't walking on grass everywhere (an important point for white dresses and stilletoes lol). The owner is very accommodating and will do her best to help you have the day of your dreams.
It wouldn't be to everyone's taste but I think it's a little hidden gem and definately worth a look if you're near the Wirral.
Hope that helps.0
