Before i phone EDF again and make a prat out of myself :o

Do i have the right to change my DD amount?

We pay a fixed DD monthly at a rate set by my E7 useage and this is reviewed each October. but late last year we got rid of the E7 meter and thru dec and Jan made a huge saving on our monthly electric use.
I've worked out that even if i use the same amount of units each month (tumble dryer on everyday at the mo) i should still be in credit of over £500 by the end of the year as we are still in credit from Jan bill.

I've worked out i could reduce my DD by a min of £35 a month ( based on my winter use) can i ask for this now or do i have to wait for the review like im lead to believe?

You can't change the amount collected by DD. When you set up the DD, you agreed the supplier could collect variable amounts. However, you can try to negotiate with the supplier the amount they collect.

Give them the details, especially the recent changes that have occurred and see what they say. They may want to monitor the situation over the next couple of months to see your assumptions are correct before agreeing to revise any collected amounts, and that may require you giving them some regular meter readings.

I guess it depends on how far you want to press the point.

You could raise the issue as a formal complaint with EDF to see if that gets a different response.
Or you could hit the comparison sites and vote with your feet over their customer service
Or you could simply accept what they say and look forward to receiving a rebate later in the year, just in time for Christmas.

    Many thanks Premier.
Its pants but i dont feel the need to spit the dummy out the pram just yet, Ive always been happy with EDF, it just feels daft that i will have to overpay my bills for such a long time, when im already in quite a bit of credit with them. i will have another go getting it reduced after the March bill comes in
    Thanks again

Hi tori.k - You don't say what alternative arrangements you have made for heating and hot water - If you have installed a Gas CH & Hot water system you need your electric meter to be changed from ECO 7 to a Standard Meter.
Some providers will do this for free, others will make a charge, and some will leave the meter as it is and simply add the Day & Night rates together for chargeing as though you had a standard meter

It seems from your post that your contacts with EDF have been by phone calls to staff on thier Customer Service Desk - I'm sure they try thier best, but this site is full of complaints where they have got it wrong - If you have installed Gas CH, WRITE to EDF setting out the date you changed over, if you don't get reply in 21 days, WRITE again heading the letter COMPLAINT
A week ago in chance conversation with a nieghbor, he told me he was with EDF on an ECO 7 meter that he had inherited with the property 20 years ago! EDF have said they will change the meter for free
    Best of Luck
