Has anyone got any idea how much this is (units) for gas and electric? Ive looked it up online, but it seems to vary from 4000 to 9000 unit for leccy.

TIA

whats an average household? if you gave details of what is close to your circumstances then you may get some average figures from people in similar circumstances, i.e. 2 adults in a flat/2 adults, 2 kids in 3 bed semi etc

I believe the average per household is 3,300 units(kWh) electricity and 23,000 for gas.

However as Woby-Tide implies that is meaningless as there are so many other factors, No of people, size of property, area of UK etc.

The consumption of single person, out at work all day, in a tiny flat cannot be compared to a that of a large family in large house.

It's not specifically for me - I was wondering what it was for the UK as a whole.
OK, how about for your second example - 2 adults, 2 kids in 3 bed semi, with an SAHM.

Actually, I've just managed to find this rather useful-looking site: http://www.swenvo.org.uk/environment/energy_statistics.asp, which seems to bear out Cardew's ballpark figures - seems to be about 5000kWh for electricity and about 20000 for gas.

When the utility companies put up their prices(as they do regularly!) their announcements often state "this will cost the average family only XX pence per day"

In the small print there is a statement that says XX pence is based upon the UK average of 3,300 kWh for elect and 23,000 for gas(from memory those were the figures).
