National Debtline
Options
Just wondering if anyone has had a bad experience with National Debtline.I have had numerous dealings with this "Charity" over the last year and from my personal experience I have to say they are completely useless. It would be interesting to see if anyone else has the same views.

I have to say I found them to be helpful, not the best but not bad by any means

I am sorry but I have to say that lender preferred CCCS is due to the biased advised given by CCCS where too often they advise IVA or a DMP where other avenue will be more appropriate such as a DRO or bankruptcy for example. Moreover the advice given (by CCCS) tends to be biased towards maximising recovery of borrowed money by those who finance the CCCS.
Who funds it?
The big banks such as Lloyds TSB, Barclays and HSBC. The association asks the banks for voluntary contributions totalling around £15m a year because it argues that the lenders would have higher bad debts if CCCS didn't step in to help.
Is it biased?
The Charity Commission ensures the CCCS is impartial but still acts primarily in the interests of consumers, not the banks. CCCS points out that it is the largest debt management charity in the UK, with 600 staff and 250 counsellors. It presides over repayment plans for 70,000 people who owe a total of £2.25bn, which it says accounts for 10% of all of the problem debt in Britain.
I had various experience with national debtline and CCCS , I have to say that national debtline was the most helpful . CCCS refused to help me because I was unemployed at the time and told me not once but 3 times to come back when I have at least 200 pounds spare income !BSC number 1830 -
Very strange,N/D advised me totally different and wasted app 7 months of my time. They gave wrong information and I would even go as far as saying it could be construed as malicious. The CAB also thought it was very strange and advised me to dispense with the services of the N/D.
The main problem was the N/D advisers did not seem to agree with each other,as every time I called them I was told something completely different and they constantly contradicted each other.I was absolutely disgusted with them and chose to dispense with their "services".
