Has anyone got a spa bath?

We have had ours for about three years, but just recently black bits started coming out when we switched it on. Of course I knew I should have been putting stuff in to clean the tubes but I never had. Anyway, I've just bought some off the internet, can't seem to get it in shops, and it cost me £12.50

I thought when it came I would look at the ingredients and see if I could find a cheaper alternative, but it doesn't have any ingredients listed, so I wondered if anyone on here used a cheaper product.

we've got a bath with jets in the side - is this the same thing? Anyway, I picked up a tip from one of those tv programmes and that is to dissolve about 6 dishwasher tablets in hot water in the bath (making sure it covers the jets) and turn it on. Apparently its good for cleaning out the pipes/jets.

A friend of mine has one of those too and she uses biological washing powder. Fill the bath up over the jets with warm/hot water and bung a healthy sized scoop in and leave it for 20 mins running. Do keep an eye as some of them foam loads and you might end up with foam all over the bathroom ;)
This will dissolve all the grease (yuck) and build ups (remember how the cleaning guru's like Kim and Aggie use Bio stiff to clean the shower curtains etc? same principle I guess).

i think the only downside with the washing powder is that it would take forever to get rid of the soap - could you imagine having a bath shortly after and turning on the jets :rotfl:

Dishwasher tablets are very low foam/soap

Thanks for the tips, I think I'll try the dishwasher tablets, although I'm tempted by the soap powder, we could all come out of the bath whiter than white

When we had one of these baths I used to clean it by adding Persil to the hot water (covering the jets) and leaving it to run for a while. Then I added conditioner and ran it for a bit longer to 'kill' the suds - my OH always used to want to try putting the laundry in at the same time!
