New digital camera

Could anyone recommend one for a budget of upto £150 please. I don't want a basic model as I want to start improving my skills but I don't want anything like a bridge or DSLR camera.
Sorry this is a bit general, I have no idea what sort of spec to look for, e.g. MP size, optical/digital zoom, face detection etc etc. Some guidnace would be really appreciated.

I would suggest anything from the Canon Ixus range - iirc the Ixus 95 and Ixus 100 are around that price range.
Plenty of manual settings to play with but has decent auto settings too.It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.
