There is a new database which shows if the item you are selling/buying, thinking of selling/buying is recorded by the police as lost or stolen.
Great for checking those bargains on ebay and stop yourself from handling stolen goods. - also great for stopping street crime, if they can't re-sell the goods easily then they won't bother stealing them in the first place!!
Simply goto http://www.recipero.com/recipero/products/checkmend/
You should also record your items, especially mobile phones & ipods on the immobilise website - www.immobilise.com
Register them for free by serial number - if they are ever lost/stolen then subsequently recovered the police can get them back to you!!:T

And yet they give you no insurance that the item isnt actually stolen so if you pay your £3 and it turns out to be stolen you lose your price of the phone and the £3.
Looking at the details behind it it states it is supported by a number of police forces, insurance companies etc however does not name a single organisation that does support it to validate their statements. All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers
