Good news reclaiming PPI from late husbands TSB acc.

I want to thank people on this site for telling me to try and reclaim the PPI payments had paid on four loans my late husband had with Lloyds TSB.
My brother in law who was the executor of my husbands will wrote using the template letter as a guide and on Friday they upheld the complaint and I should be recieving about £3500.
I know some people will think this is wrong to try and claim on behalf of a dead person but my husband used to pay insurance on everything (just in case he used to say) and when he died very suddenly I found out that the mortgage protection insurance he had paid since 1990 would not pay out because it had no life element attached to it. At the time we were sold the policy we had a policy running that would have paid our mortgage off in case of my husbands death but we were advised we would not need the other policy because this was a far superior policy which covered most things.
We let the policy lapse and when I tried to claim found out this information was incorrect. Alliance and Leicester say they have no record of us going to the office to take out the policy.
Anyway I had to sell my house and still have a large mortgage so to get this small triumph feels fantastic.

So Thank You

Well done to you and I personally do not think you are wrong claiming on behalf of your hubby. If it was missold then it should be paid back to you regardless. Just a pity that you actually lost out through bad advice too.

  • Hi jacey45,
I am so pleased that you have been successful:j
You have suffered because of bad insurance advice and it is only right that you get this money back.I am so sorry that you have been through such bad times, it is hard enough losing your husband but to have to sell your home and have to complain to get refunded is awful.
You sound like a very good person and no sign of bitterness or anger and I hope you find some comfort in this victory.

  • hi there, I am very sad to hear of your loss but am extremely glad that you were able to recover some money. Unfortunately my father-in-law passed away very suddenly back at the end of October, he did not have any kind of life/mortgage policies and so my mother in law has been left in a somewhat worryingly bad financial situation – through no fault of anyone I may add. We have been going through all of their old loands/credit cards/bank accounts etc.. and my father in law had an awful lot of loans in the past that had the dreaded PPI on them and my mother-in-law basically said that he was bamboozled into taking out the policies and we wondered if we could do the same as you had done? Unfortunately we have no idea as to where to begin at all and wondered as to whether anyone could offer any assistance/advice on this subject. I really hope that you do not mind me contacting you.

You could contact the bank/s direct by phone or email, you do not need a template letter.
If you need to write (if you get no joy on the phone) you could send a letter with your name address, account numbers and reasons why you were mis sold the PPI, I assume it is PPI you need the template for?.

If you have any more questions, just ask.
