Ryanair hand baggage???

Hi there,
I am traveling with ryanair for the first time and reading the posts about Ryanair is giving me nightmares.
I wanted to know whether my wife can carry the ladies purse in addition to her hand baggage. Hope that Ryanair donot count the ladies purse that she is carrying as a seperate bag or include it in the weight of the hand baggage.

Thanks for looking in.
I wanted to thankyou a million times but its a shame that I can press the button just once :T

  • I have always been able to take a handbag along with my hand luggage. I think as long as your handbag isn't the size of a holdall you should be OK! Have you checked the FAQs on their website?

I think the "purse" is meant to be a small handbag rather than a large holdall (as the other poster said).

As long as her other hand baggage isn't busting at the seems then couldn't she put her small purse inside the large bag if questioned.
As you aren't busting at the seems or on the weight limit it should be OK.
If you can put the smaller bag inside the bigger bag IF questioned then there's no problem.

In reality I have never had a problem carrying a small handbag in addition to hand luggage.

On most of the tickets I've had it says you can carry certain items like - ladies purse, blanket, walking stick etc.

I've travelled several time with Ryanair and they are not always consistent with their policy. On a couple of occasions I have been asked whether my small handbag will go into my small carry on bag as I am only allowed one item, luckily mine has always fitted. I've also had my hand baggage weighed a couple of times, but not every time.

Once where my hand luggage plus the handbag exceeded their weight limit I had to unpack a couple of my paperback books and repack them in my son's hand luggage but they then just sat and watched me as I took them straight back once the bags were weighed.

If you've just got hand baggage and check in online, you can probably take as much (reasonable) of extra bits and pices as you want. i.e. You miss being asked at the checkin counter!

I dont remember anyone asking me when we travelled with ryanair (and i had a backpack picnic for the whole family too) but it might be because i carry my bag on my shoulder & it sort of hangs behind me. I may have sneaked it on board without realising it. (which I therefore recommend !!!)

Have always taken a small bag and a rucksack even with Ryanair, although I could fit one into the other if it would have been a problem.......
