I was and still have a barclays account,i did the reclaiming bit etc, and got the usual letter back.
My question is in order to go down the hardship road what would i need to do, i moved to another bank years ago in order to sort myself out and paid off what i owed to barclays a set amount each month. Would i still be able to pursue the hardship angle, as it certainly left me in hardship for many many years, my bank charges amount to over £3000.
many thanks

I think it is unlikely they will consider financial hardship after the fact, that is, after you have dealt with it and are no longer in financial hardship.0 -
Financial hardship is usually the result of some unexpected change in lifestyle resulting in a fall in disposable income and/or increased expenditure (e.g. loss of job, illness, etc) not simply having to pay back debts you have accrued.

Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100
