Bill Payment Accounts

I have always had a bill payment account with Halifax/Bank of Scotland where i pay in a set amount and they also gave me an overdraft for the same amount.

But now with all the new overdraft charges, the last 2 months I have had bank charges - the first time in about 10 years!

Can anyone recommend any other banks that has a similar bill payment account or any other ways that i wont get charged for using my overdraft.

As far as I'm aware, no other bank has the Halifax overdraft charging structure. So anywhere that will offer you an overdraft will do the job.

Before you jump ship consider the following:

1) If you are being charged less than £5 a month and pay in more than £1,000 a month, transfer to the Reward account and earn a £5 monthly credit to cancel out the overdraft charges.

2) If your overdraft amount is always less than £300 then consider the Ultimate Reward account. That has no overdraft charges on authorised amounts below £300 but does have a £12.50 monthly fee that pays for a range of insurances.

Weigh up the value of these options, and if it doesn't work for you move elsewhere.
