Selling property on the internet

Hi everyone, I'm not young; trying to save a few pennies on agents fees in order to sell my small terraced house in South London. Can anyone recommend a good internet site that provides a good service, AND WORKS? Your advice appreciated.

Since you're not young, the term 'false economy' might hold some meaning for you......

I would tend to agree with Googler. You're paying an Estate Agent to negotiate your sale and get the best price possible - it's not just about advertising. You might save £2k in fees but if an EA coud have negotiated an extra £5k on the sale price, you've actually lost £3k.

That's an important point and also I assume you know all the questions to ask the buyer to make sure that he can proceed, has got the money (or will be able to get it because his credit rating and income is good enough for a mortgage) and if he is selling a property you will know what to ask about the transactions below him in any chain.

  • house network could be a solution, i am thinking of using them, they are online estate agents & they advertise on rightmove, you pay £500

Agents aren't the rip off merchants people make them out to be. They provide a service ... how good that service is can depend on your house and the area and the price it goes to market at. They do filter out idiots before viewings - and have large mailing lists and phone lists of people to call. Then there's the shop window they have where people walk by ... and the local newspaper advertising.

For selling property on the internet, there are a lot of companies offering varying degrees of service now, here's a list of the main ones if you wanted to check what they do offer: http://hubpages.com/hub/List-of-Sell-Your-Own-House-Websites

Good luck, I hope you get the best price soonest.
  • Thanks for your sentiments and link, Pastures New.
