Have you ever been accosted by counter staff (sorry politely asked) if you ever wanted a financial review either by your business or personal account manager or have you ever been telephoned by the bank or ever had a letter asking if you could contact the bank.
If the answer to all is no then they must assume that you died!:rotfl:

They never approach me. Probably as they know I can sell any of their insurance or investment products at cheaper rates than they can :D

That said I do recall their credit card helpline giving it a go. Even despite me saying that I own a financial services company and can do it cheaper than they can they did continue to say that it was still worth a try ;)

There is an empty shop next to my Lloyds and it would be so tempting to open up in there and stick posters on the window saying buy your Scottish Widows and C&G products cheaper here. Of course, I would have to go to Lloyds for the business loan and I dont think they would lend me the money on that business model. :rotfl:
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.

dunstonh, just ask what window space rent the eventual tenant wants to have the poster on the side of the window adjacent to Lloyds, with your phone number and address included.:)

I have a Lloyds Classic a/c. which I only use for drip feeding purposes into regular saver a/cs and receiving interest and dividends etc. My salary is paid into a decentish interest paying current a/c., that way I find that I can keep an eye on my investments easier.
One thing that does annoy me with them however is that when I pay a largeish cheque in, I am asked to "Wait, until I can get a manager to speak to you". I cannot wait because I have invariably sloped off from work and have to get back before anyone misses me. My reply to them is to return my paying in book and cheque and I'll pay it into anther bank or ,"I cannot wait any longer you'll have to post my paying in book to me, good day". The latter response is the usual outcome.

Well that's your answer then isn't it. They though you are clever !!!!!! who doesn't need any help; probably they are thinking why you didn't ask them for advice.

I've had a Lloyds current, now Classic account for the last 50 something years. Never had any problems. Yes there is a button to upgrade currently. However about 5 years ago they decided to upgrade my account for some reason best known to them and then start charging me for the privilege. All the extras were not things I ever used/needed etc. so got them to change it back again and refund the charges, which they did do.

I had a classic account and was pursuaded to change to a gold account (on the phone) the cons were free travel insurance and foreign money change also told that the interest was better, which it is not. I took all the details of the guy who was doing the sales pitch and when I came to change back to the classic I got angry with the local manager, end result was £200 put into my account and a free bottle of Glen livet whiskey, the £200 was for having to keep £2000 in my account all the time (like others I use LLoyds to drip feed my money into another account paying more interest). The moral of this story is always fight them if you believe they are in the wrong its easier for them to give in than lose you as a customer.
