Scottish Power - Revised Monthly Payment

I had a similar problem this week with Scotish Power, and my email reply is exactly the ssame as the OP's - except for different figures and a different name at the bottom
I actually thought that someone had taken the time to work things out, but it seems that its just a bloody template
They've bumped up my monthly DD by 50% to £120, using my latest [winter] reading to estimate usage over 12 months and dividing by 12.
My argument is that, even when paying the original £80/m, my account was showing a credit balance for 9 months of the year.

This happened to us, we switched to them after checking USwitch, 3 months later they more than doubled our payments. We're now with Southern Electric and very happy indeed
Hope you get things sorted out.:hello:

Hi titanflux
Sorry to hear about all the inconvenience that has been caused. I can imagine your shock at being provided with that rediculous Direct Debit quote.
The online energy tariff (in my experience) works tremendously well the more accurate meter readings we have updated. It also helps you as the consumer know exactly what you are consuming during specific period of the year. For example, when I moved into my new address, I updated both gas and electricity meter readings as close to the start of each month for a period of 12-months. My online account then has accurate consumption records for me which I can always refer back to.
The online account only requests that you update meter readings once in every 91 days, and if this is done, the Direct Debit reassessments should be very accurate.
There is always the possibility that a meter reading can be typed in incorrectly when would create a completely incorrect Direct Debit quote. This is easily rectified if this happens.
I am glad that you have been able to resolve this matter, the error of which should have been highlighted on your first contact to us.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further queries that you would like addressed.
Kind Regards
