Converting Bungalow to chalet / house and underpinning

Hi,
Discussing plans with architect on how to convert our bunaglow to chalet or a house.
Depending on how deep the foundations are, the property may require underpinning to take the extra load.
Would this mean that you need to disclose the underpinning for future insurance quotes ? Or are the insurance companies only interested in underpinning as a result of subsidence ?
I've heard there might be more expensive options instead of underpinning, ie extra steel. Anyone any experience of this?
