Buying a house not facing onto a road

I don't drive but my main concern with any lanes /footpaths etc would be getting a small removal van there to move in and any deliveries that I might later require.
Looks like there's room but there might be vehicle weight/size limtations for some side roads if a large furniture type lorry needed to deliver.
Better though than the possible alternative being on a busy noisy main road!

There's a few like this around my area, and I like them .... because I've got a cat, and NOT having easy access to a (possibly busy) road is a real positive. I would imagine plenty of other buyers with kids or pets could feel the same way.
Certainly around here it seems to be a selling point, rather than a negative.I've got a plan so cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel.0 -
I think as a ftb myself and liked it, I would go for it. Usually, the walk area isn't an area where youths decide to be disturbing, most like to hang at the park (at least in my area). You just have foot traffic instead of car traffic and would definately be quieter. The garden looks to be a nice size as well and if you have rear access, all the better.0

my queries would be about the deeds and access. is it freehold and if so, you need to make sure its not a flying freehold. i dont understand how the garage works on a freehold if the access is shared with other houses (or if it is?)
having lived in a flat, on a court, on a road, and always having difficulty getting things delivered, i suppose i would consider that, but its a small price to pay if the house is what you're looking for.
the only other thing is that as i work visiting clients in their homes, i come across a lot of properties where i have NO idea how to get to their front door!! its very annoying, but this might not be your problem, just your guests!0 -
there are a lot of houses like that here too.. looking at the picture you have the car park at the back and i am guessing most people will use their back door as their front door. when we went to look at one we knocked at the front door and they had to move all the stuff that was piled up in front of it!!
also our surveyor broke the door of the first house we were going to buy as he had been given a key for the back door but assumed it was for the front..
you will prob find it feels quite normal after a while if you like the house
good luck!0 -
We used to live in a similar "walk" and had 4 years of children playing ball, screaming shouting and generally using the walkway as their own personal garden (the familiy did have a back garden like everyone else but it was so full of c**P there was no room for the children to play.) The children in question would then go and collect their friends to come over and play as well.
For me I would never buy/rent a house again that has space where children can play. It may not sound like much, but on a week-end when you are trying to relax watching tv or reading a book, the constant thump thump thump thump of a ball can nearly drive you insane!!!!0
