The A level results will be all important, not the GCSE's (providing she gets high grades in maths and English). I think a foreign language GCSE is useful.

If she wants to take a GCSE in Law, then she should go for it! I have GCSE's in all sorts of strange things (inc Geology, Computer Studies - now nearly 20 years out of date!, and Latin).

Once you get your A level results, no one looks at your GCSE's and most people write just "8 GCSE's A-C" on application forms.

Law is one of those subjects where you can take a degree conversion course too so there is always chance to take it up later in life...

uni's don't care what GCSE's you have. as long as you get good enough grades to be able to take A levels.

Just choosing what you enjoy at that point is always the best method, then if you enjoy it, chances are it will be less stressful later, and you will get a better mark. Then go on to choose A levels more carefully.

i spent weeks trying to choose mine, only to find that when i got to uni they couldn't care less.

I got my best mark for drama, and wish i had taken more of the subjects where it is mostly coursework or non exam methods, it really takes the pressure off at exam time, when you have already submitted coursework, performed your piece of music, drama etc. that was worth 60% of your mark. it feels nice to know it doesnt all rely on that one exam!
It only takes a second to say 'Thanks, you just saved me a few quid!'
