You really should consider a Mac Mini.

Macs are excellent for both photo editing and slideshow making right out of the box, as they come with the iLife suite of applications (which is a million times better than anything you'll get with a PC).

It' may still be better but it's not a million times better Marty. The Windows tools have caught up a lot and you can also download the the live versions which are better still. There are also plenty of other free tools out there that do a good job.

Why Microsoft don't include the Live versions as standard is beyond me, unless it's another weird anti-competitive thing.

A lot depends on how involved the photo editing the OP wants to do is.

Also a Mac Mini si more money than the ones the OP listed and has a lesser spec in terms of RAM and Hard Drive. The processor is a little slower as well but I doubt if the difference in processor speed would matter much in day to day use.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

Maybe I'm guilty of hyperbole, but the software that comes with a Mac is much better than the Live essentials Microsoft puts out. They've improved certainly, but they're not there yet.
