A salesman for a national double glazing company forged my signature on an installation contract for a new conservatory.
It is my belief that on the day he gave me the quote for the conservatory he asked me to sign the finance agreement but he had forgotten to bring an installation contract. Instead of admitting his mistake and offering to bring the contract at a later date it would appear that he copied my signature from the finance agreement onto the installation contract. Consequently, I was never given a copy of the installation contract. A week later I decided to cancel the contract but was told by the company that I could not as it was outside the cooling off period. Of course I was not aware of this as I did not have a copy of the contract. After several weeks of stress, and following the intervention of Trading Standards, I was sent a copy of the installation contract. However, it was not my signature that was on it. After further action by Trading Standards, my deposit was returned. I have received no explanation or apology from the company regarding the forging of my signature. I feel that they should compensate me for the three months of stress that they have put me through. Do you think it is time to expose this incident to the media?

To be honest i would. Ok the matter is sorted but how many other people could it happen to if people didnt bring it to our attention?0

            Why was the deposit returned?
Where they found to be lying or did they simply decide they didnt fancy going to court or dealing with the hassle?
Unless you have proof they forged the signature no one will get involved0

I think they returned the deposit as they knew they were in the wrong. I have both copies of finance agreement and installation contract with forged signature. Have reported matter to police who gave me an incident number but they didn't seem too interested as Trading Standards were involved.0

            What you think is Irrelevent.
You have no proof and they could easily have decided it wasnt worth pursuing. No one will touch this at all without proof.
Its finished with so move on.0

The media? No, that just makes you look a bit of a saddo.
However, why not leave some reviews of the company, if you can find anything for them online?0

            Indeed. I agree with Anihilator.
Next time sign sign the purchase agreement first then the credit agreement. That's how it should have been done anyway...[strike]-£20,000[/strike] 0!0

So the general view seems to be that I should forget about the whole thing and move on. Should this salesman get away with it so he can do it to someone else? Let's hope he doesn't.0

There are plenty of reviews for the company on the net- most of them bad. I just wish I had read a few of the reviews before I chose that company. They still call themselves 'The Best'.sarahg1969 wrote: »The media? No, that just makes you look a bit of a saddo.

In my eyes they are 'The Best' - at hiring pushy and fraudulent salesmen.0
