Hi all,

Just checked my gas bill for the amount used for 1 month :-

£260

Is this about right for a 4 bedroomed house?

Seems VERY high - the heating is on a couple of hours first thing and then on from 4 to around 10 at night every day (weekends its on 8 - 10pm)

Seems low to normal (especially if that's 8 am to 10 during the weekends.)

How many kWh have you used.

I live in 3 bedroom on a hill, no cavity walls and heating on late morning until late night and I just got a bill of £300.07 this was between 12th Oct until 1st Feb and 10024 kWh

  • I would say that is very high this equates to over £60 per WEEK:eek: since op says £260 is for one month.
many people only spend 60-£80 per month.
It could be keeping the temp high or poor insulation or both

Is that possible-£60 a week gas?

    Wonder what tariff they're on?

    As previously asked, Kwh used?

    Await the response with interest.:)

Well I pay £84 a month for both, this time of year though at £84x3 (quarterly bill) for billing doesn't cover the bill hence why I accrue a surplus credit in Summer. I am slightly in debt for gas and electric although slightly over paying electric to get that debt down

I live in a 4 bedroomed house in the north of Scotland (so pretty cold!) and I was £363 for the past quarter and I thought it was a lot. There's nearly always someone in our house so the heating is on most of the day and evening.

Sounds a lot to me. I have a 4 bedroomed house, and the gas bill for 2/11/09 to 1/2/10 (3 months over winter) was £200

£260 per month seems high to me.

We live in a 3 bed semi, and even in the severe cold weather, only spent around £20 per week on gas for heating & hot water. Heating is on from about 8am - midnight almost every day.

Even if your house is a 4 bed detached, I would think much over say £120-£150 for the month would be high. Now the warmer weather is on the way, hopefully that'll reduce significantly too.

Check you are being charged using the correct type of meter.
