any clue to what can be wrong Rav 4 D-4D

I have a Rav 4 D-4D 2001 I GX I just had it serviced and when driving home noticed the speedo wasnt working took it back to the garage and they said it was the speed sensor after checking some code on the computer? drove home it started to work again so cancelled the job for speed sensor, after a week it stopped working again and the engine management light came on so we checked it into garage where a new speed sensor was fitted the speedo still isnt working they then took the car to bits to check the wiring no faults there,so is there anybody that can help me we have spent a lot of money and no further forward

Yes its normally water ingress at the connections: remove, clean, WD40, Replace.

One on the gear box and the one in the footwell, try the footwell first as it will/should be easiest.

I cant paste links as a new member but have copied this from my Toyota forum.

" If you look down where your feet go in the drivers well to the right there is a trim (plastic screw in back and clips at the front) remove this and look for the lowest plug it is white and has a few wires in it remove the plug and check the conector and see if it is green? if so clean with wd 40 and refit the conector and give it a run. The water can get in from the sunroof it is worth keeping an eye on it as you might need a new sunroof pannel ."
