Has anyone else bought this notebook, who can confirm if the microsoft office trial that is pre installed on the notebook is for 12 month's or for 60 days
as I have a problem
on my notebook bought as a xmas present, I have a desktop icon which clearly states its a 12 month prepaid licence
Now I'm having problems as i have installed this trial but can't find the product, don't seem to have an email from m/office either with the key, I have got 13 more chances before (well I'm not sure what will happen)
now here's my problem I have contacted microsoft office helpline, they have come back with a link to a 60 day trial, although I'm struggling to find this
can anyone confirm if this notebook comes with either a 60 day trail or a 12 month one
I've tried downloading open office on a different laptop, have sent of a couple of job applications, only for the person concerned to come back stating they can't open the attachment in the email
can anyone else suggest a way of sorting out the trial product key (for the full 12 month's
thanks

Right then,
The plot has thickened now
On my notebook I have a desktop icon clearly stating 12 month pre-paid license
now due the problems I'm having now, I done a bit of digging over the web
have checked 2 sites on the web for the spec Samsung & Ebuyer
they both state in the spec "60 day trial"
so do I query why I've got a 12 month icon
or as I have done now downloaded a successful 60 day trial
any other Samsung N130 owners with a 12 month or 6 month office trial0 -
I hope you haven't installed the 60 day yet because it will probably mess up the 12 month one. If not what happens when you click the 12 month one see my prev post4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . unfortunately it looks like I have downloaded & installed the 60 day trial
brief background, I had previously clicked on pre-installed desktop icon for 12 month microsoft office trial, however not sure why or how, but I don't appear to have either a copy of or a email with the trial key for this download
since I have installed this, every time I open office (mainly word) I get asked to install a key (no other option, you mention a email)
every time I decline this, my options go down by one currently standing as 10 chances left to install key
I have looked into various options under programs/microsoft office to try and find the key, all without success
as I have been trying to send off job applications and having problems
tonight I have gone through your tip of going through start/programs etc
then download via the link, now when I followed the link it directed me to a 60 day trial download :mad::mad::mad::mad:
what are my options now, besides phoning Samsung0 -
Ok you can get a beta download Office 2010 which lasts until end of October or there is a link to Office 2007 Home and student Here when you click on the download link it asks you to put in your details and email address and then wait for the email (shouldn't have to save the download)4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . Hi all, I've just joined this forum to be able to update you on the problems I have also been having with the above. My N130 also clearly states on the desktop icon that there is a free 12 month trial, but every time I clicked on it I was taken to the Microsoft Office 60 day trial page. No product key to be found anywhere and no instructions on what to do.
I phoned Samsung (0845 726 7864) and spoke to a very helpful chap but unfortunately I didn't get the result I wanted, but thought it would help others if I posted the details of the discussion here:
I was told that Microsoft had originally agreed that all purchasers of the netbook could have a 1 year trial but then they went back on their agreement and reverted to the 60 day trial OR 25 uses (important note, as according the to the techie guy I spoke to, you get either or, not your 25 uses while trying to work out what the problem is then your 60 day trial, the 25 uses counts towards it!)
Because the netbooks were already installed with the desktop icon saying '1 year' they couldn't be changed once they were all distributed, Samsung are in communication with Microsoft but lets face it, they have no chance of Microsoft changing their mind, why should they after all? He said that they are getting around 30-40 calls every day from people like me having these problems and there was nothing they could do about it. I did say that I would email to register my complaint about it and I would encourage anyone else in the same boat to do the same thing:
samsungitsupport@sykes.com
Also, Trading Standards might be worth a try but again, I don't think it is likely that any successful result will be forthcoming as it is Microsoft we are dealing with.
He recommended downloading Open Office which I am going to try, as it has been recommended to me before and I see on a related forum here too. Hopefully it will solve the problem and anything that opposes Microsoft I'm all for at the moment!
Hope this helps and stop looking for your product key as YOU WON'T FIND IT!!0 -
I had the same problem but Samsung and Microsoft were unhelpful.
I understand that Samsung agreed to provide a 12-month Office trial with Microsoft and "pre-loaded" that offer on thousands of NC machines. Then the offer was curtailed earlier than exected but Samsung continued to sell the (Old) machines pre-loaded with the 12-month offer (which came up on screen) but Microsoft's "maximum 25 times usage" limitation came on screen as soon as I used Office 2007.
Both companies refused to acknowledge anything so I got nowhere, legally speaking.
So I gave the Netbook to my son who is a student and he now has the Netbook having used one of the 3 licences given under the Ultimate Steal promotion.0
