so when I buy something reduced that I have no idea how to cook, or a recipe goes wrong I can ring her and go "Muuuummmmm?!"

Mine is a £10 Bessel carpet sweeper from wilko's.

Best £10 I ever spent, oh make that £20, I bought two.

I cant believe the amount of muck it brings up, hardly use the Henry I have, just to do the nooks and crannies.

The cookbook my mum hand wrote for me when I left home. It contains all her tried and tested everyday recipes and is fool proof. I am going to make an exact replica for ds and dd when they leave.

And our meat slicer, inherited from my grandparents when my father decided it was too much of a liability for them. It means I can get to the meat first, before OH cuts hunks out of it at 4 x the size.

Just what I was going to say :T Knowing that if I make it myself, it'll likely be better, cheaper, tastier and I'll have a sense of satisfaction, that doesn;t "come from a store" :D

  • Oh gosh, I can really only choose one?

In that case it would have to be my allotment because not only does it provide veggies, it keeps me sane and keeps me fit so I save money three ways!

If I were allowed extras then I also say my woodburning stove (we couldn't afford to be as warm as we are without this), the internet and library for finding out about more moenysaving ways, and charity shops, which I've only just discovered.
  • My TWO slow cookers! Having bought a full size one cos it was the only thing in Argos that I vaguely wanted to spend a 'one day to go to expiry' gift voucher on, I loved it so much I bought a 1-2 person one too! I have the 'Slow Cooking for yourself' - meals for one or two cookbook.

I live on my own so I can do big meals and freeze them in portions with the big SC but if I get a 'yellow sticker' pork chop/duck leg/ piece of fish I can do a one person slow cooker meal too.

My laptop. It lets me find out how to do so much, allows me to find bargains and free things and acts as an entertainment system and communications center too.

In the kitchen ,my bread-maker and microwave now we are mostly just the two of us but when the kids were smaller, the food processor was a life saver.
