Beware Cardata - unprofessional, rude and unlawful

Cardata

I received two missed calls on my mobile from number 0208 216 1570. The second missed call had a * mid way through the number which was odd.

Anyway, before dialling I googled it and found it was Cardata. Braced for the promise of people seeking to buy my car, I called the number off my landline.

The call went like this, and I hope it serves as a warning to all.

TB = Me CD = CarData

Phone answers
CD - hello
TB - Hello, what company is this?
CD - How do you know this is a company
TB - I googled your number.
CD - OK
TB - I had a missed call (gives number)
CD - Oh are you selling a Car
TB - yes
CD - Oh you got a call last week from us at Cardata. You havent sold it then
TB - No. My advert requests no canvassers
CD - Yes but we have buyers lined up. Not everyone has money after Christmas
TB - Buyers will find me
CD - Goes into speil about having people lined up
TB - Your company is plastered over the web with false promises.
CD - we have testimonials and it will be against the law to not publish true letters on the site
TB - even Hitler had fans
CD - how dare you slate the company, that is all you have been doing for 5 mins
TB - sorry, can you remove my details please
CD - our company is reputable
TB - You are prob not aware I talk consumer issues for the radio so know exactly what Cardata promises
CD - we are reputable
TB - will you remove my details as per law
CD - Only if you ask nicely
TB - Its a legal requirement

PHONE LINE GOES DEAD

TB rings back same number and the phone answers but silence.

TB - please can you remove my details then

Phone line goes dead.

I then spend 10 minutes talking to customer services who will have the matter dealt with internally they said and my details removed, yet i may receive more calls.

Steer clear - very unprofessional employees and a quick google of Cardata will bring up all the stories.

Anyway, I have a topic for the radio show tomorrow now.
