It really depends on the tartan you're looking to get... My husband actually had his school tartan made into a kilt for our wedding as he didn't want his fathers clan and frankly the ones from his mums side of the family are... well... we didn't like them LOL
However he had to have written permission to have the tartan made especially and only ONE mill has the right to make that tartan... So is it a "common" tartan you can easily get or are we talking rare which means tracking down who holds the license rights.DFW Nerd #025DFW no more!
