Hi everyone
I put my mother on age concern plan years ago with Eon. Now the dual bill comes and the electricity tariff is age concern standard plan but the gas is just called gas plan!! I assume that they havent given her the age conern tariff for gas. But now when I am reviewing the tariffs, i dont know what to put into the comparison websites as to what her plan is. Help pls.

Also, any suggestions to better tariffs for the oldies?

many thanks

    Hi pid2004 :hello:

I am sorry about the confusion on the bill about the tariff, It is normal for the gas to show as just 'gas plan' even though it is an age concern tariff.

You can contact E.ON to double check. Or you can use my email address under my name :D.

Sounds like your doing the right thing by using the comparison sites to check for tariffs, remember it is always best to use usage figures and not £.

Give me a shout if I can help you further :)

All suppliers offer something similar, I looked into this about 6 months ago and S&SE came out head and sholders in front of everyone else by offering a ~30% discount.

    The products on offer are

BG - Essentials (i think this is closed to new customers)
    E.ON - Warm Assist
    EDF - Energy Assist
    npower - Spreading warmth
    Scottish Power - Fresh Start
    S&SE - Energy Care Plus

    edit...

These are not shown on comparison sites so you will have to ring them up to get quotes.

    Hi,

Thank you guys. Few more questions :)

Helena, when I am doing the comparison sites, they have quite a few Age Concern plans. But they do not list the Standard Age Concern Plan. Please let me know if you know of the plans name on the comparsion website. Many thanks.

Bark01, your right, I cant see any of the tariffs that you have written. Maddness huh. I just want to get the best tariff for a pensioner so I need phone around.

The comparison sites are coming up with the normal tariffs which are showing they are £200 cheaper than an Eon age concern. Does anyone know if it is better to move over from a pensioners tariff to a normal tariff. Hope I made sense!!

    Cheers

Of course you should use a normal tariff - none of the social tariffs will be any cheaper than the best tariffs.

The standard Age concern prices are called Age Concern 2 Dual fuel on the comparison sites.

You may find that some of the online tariffs will save money, this is normally due to the amount of discount that is offered. Just make sure you check the criteria to have these prices.
