Any TLC suggestions for my MacBook?

I have a PC and a 2yr old Macbook. My PC I regularly defrag, virus check etc in a vain attempt to get my start up a little quicker than the usual 10mins. My macbook however starts immediately every time and runs really fast - its like a faithful puppy :) I am wondering if there is anything I should be doing to keep it this way. Mac users - do you have any TLC suggestions that may keep old faithful happy?

As your Mac has run two years without attention and is still fast then the answer to your question is obvious.

As to your PC - there is something wrong with it as no normal PC takes 10 minutes to start up. As you obviously love your Mac so much I'd suggest you just put the PC on eBay.

There's nothing you really need to do; OS X pretty much takes care of itself.

Just try not to mention how much you like your Mac. It tends to upset PC users for some reason. ;)

It rather depends on how often it gets mentioned ;)

Did I mention I love my Mac?

I'm movng house next week - after that I'll maybe get the time to play with the Mac mini I bought out of curiosity and recommendations of my son who is a Mac fanboy.

There is no doubt that Windows is an absolute crock with many pitfalls for the technologically inept. I nearly slung a Vista laptop through the window in frustration and that had a big influence on me buying the Mac but I just haven't had the time to play with it properly yet.
  • Only had the Mac since Christmas. However, I purchased SuperDuper (backs up a disk image). I used Drive Image 7 to do the same thing on PC.

Once my Mac was set up as I wanted it (MS Office, FCP) I burned a copy of the HDD to an external F/W drive purchased for this very thing.

That way, if anything did go wrong, I just restore the saved image and carry on.
