Probably not needed, but just a short comment to say avoid DFS at all costs.
Never in all more years as a consumer have I had worse customer service than from DFS. I will never cross their threshold again.Ah! Good old trusty beer... I hope you never change.0 -
Yes, I've seen SO many bad reviews about DFS I don't know how than mangage to stay in business!:(0

Many thanks in advance, your help on this is very much appreciated.

Steer well clear of places like DFS, SCS, Furniture Village etc, all companies that live a hand to mouth existance, very much on the edge of survival due to poor quality chinese goods and poor customer service.
You really DO get what you pay for with their inferior products. Pay a little more and buy quality, longer lasting products from the likes of John lewis, M+S etc.0 -
we've had very good customer service from furniture village following a slight misunderstanding about our order (probably entirely my fault because I was faffing) and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending them.0

If you do buy from Furniture Village and buy on line you can save the VAT by using code VC10008 which is valid to 7 March 2010. Thanks to Special Troll on this thread Here

if you fancy reclining i can't recommend lazy boy chairs and sofas highly enough - i had intermittent back pain before i got them - never had it since
they are expensive, but the frames are guaranteed for 15 years i think, and you can get bargains if you look around. i got mine at an indepenent retailer who were selling ex display sofas for great prices. fabric is much cheaper than leather too - i got a 2 seater sofa and chair, all reclining, for the same price as one of their leather chairs0 -

I think ( well I know) linking Furniture Village , with DFS / SCS
is just plain wrong .
Yes I believe my dining room furniture was made in China , that does not automatically make it poor quality .
As to poor customer service, it was because of the very good service , that we returned to buy the Kingsize bed from them.
Fortunately their are three times as many fans , than complainers !0 -
If you want fabric look at www.alstons.co.uk they've got some fab sofas. Goggle internet dealer then find your local independant dealer to try it then ask for internet price.
Barker and stonehouse do same range under their own name but we saved over £600 thorugh local dealer.0 -
We have just sold our 15yr old DFS sofa's - to be honest nowt wrong - just don't fit in our new home. No problems at all - fabric not worn & cushions still full and comfortable. And still holding onto the leather chair we bought from them at the same time. Have been so happy with these sofa's - friends are onto their 2nd & third sofa's in the same time we have had these.0

Thankyou so much everyone for your input and advice it is very much appreciated. I am still sofa hunting and at the moment am leaning towards John Lewis but I will actually visit the nearest store first and have a browse.
I will let you know the outcome.
Thanks again for taking the time to help me.
