My Conservatory is to hot !

Any one else had the same problem how did you over come this ? Ive had window blinds fitted but still have a problem with the heat coming through the polycarbonate roof my conservatory is west facing.
Ive looked into buying roof blinds and reflective film but before i decide has anyone else have any suggestions or has tried either method.

Thanks in antisipation.

We have taken to covering our polycarbonate roof with tarpaulin in the summer to try to cool it down. We use one that is silver on one side and put that facing outwards.

IIRC i fyou have that heat retaining glass then it will get hot.
M&FILs conservatory sooo ohot but they have the pilkington wotsit kappa glass that lets the heat in but not out.
We have'normal' glass in ours and it's fine both conservatories are the same size 13ft X 10 ft.
We have bronze tinted poly carb roof. and every window block has a top opening window you can 'catch' open and lock.
Although having said that We just cleaned our roof off this weekend so we'll see about how hot it gets now (assuming we get some more 'summer')

Ive just had solar window film fitted to the all the windows in my flat (its a glass box!) and the company I used, tested all the windows in the place several times to make sure that the window film was ok . Its good stuff...also what about air con? Not very green I know but it is an option

    Hi,
my MIL'S conservatory was that hot in Summer you couldn't sit in there.
She bought polycool solar strips that you insert into each strip section. My husband installed it for her. For the company to fit was a couple hundred extra. It takes about a day to install.
They have cooled room considerably. They also stop the glare from the ceiling.

You can see from the website how effective they are.
We also got them installed and because we were recommended by my MIL she got M and S vouchers which we split.
Our conservatory is approx 10ft by 20ft and I think it cost about £250.

They really do work and have a 15 year guarantee.
    Good luck
