help! i need a new cheaper phone provider

Can someone with a brain help me, i have been on here half the night trying to find a new provider, and am now more confused than ever.

Basically what i would like is free daytime calls, and a cheap rental, no broadband as i think you have to have a tv licence, or is there a way around this?

at present i am with shine telecom who are up north and there tariff is very confusing, and i am paying around £28 PER MONTH WITH THEM.
i do not mind entering into a new 12 month contract, as we have been with shine for a few years now.

I was contacted by 24 talk a while ago does anyone have any experiance of them?

The calls are so expensive, so does anyone have the time to help me out there please.

Thanks in anticipation.

I have never heard of Shine Telecom or 24 Talk but I think £4.99/month for BT's Unlimited Anytime Plan (unlimited calls of up to 60 minutes each to 01, 02, 03 and most 0845 and 0870 numbers) is difficult to better.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

You do not need a TV licence to use broadband.

You only need a TV licence if you watch "as live" television programmes.
