Hi Techies
I'm taking part in an online course at the moment and my assignment has to be submitted as a .doc
My word processing program makes .docx files and I've had a quick Google to see what the difference is. It seems that the .docx was a new thing in 2007. Is it fair to have a moan to the course provider that they're asking for files in an obsolete format? It's a brand new course from a major exam board and I'd like it to be their fault I haven't got the right file type rather than have to change mine. Am I right?

All you need to do is when you save, do it as 'Save As' and select 'Files of Type' and select 'Microsoft Word 2000' or similar ...0

Just save it as a .doc file. It's not an "obsolete" format, a lot of people people (even organisations) don't have the new version of MS Office - it is expensive after all!0

Older versions of Office can read docx files with a free plugin I believe
But yeah, just save in Office 2000 format, might make life easier0 -
