Focus juddering when accelerating and smells of burning rubber
Hiya,,
For a few weeks my 2003 Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec has been sort of juddering when accelerating.
It doesn't always happen, sometimes it's fine, and it's normally only at the start of a journey. I think it's usually in the morning too.
It judders a few times, losing power for a fraction of a second and then coming back, and the car sort of bunny-hops. This happens as you are accelerating at roughly 2000rpm.
I've also noticed in the couple days that when you get out of the car, there is a faint smell of burning rubber.
Any suggestions what could be causing this problem/problems?
Cheers
Pete

have you had the brakes checked recently? mine was a bit juddery recently but it was due to my back brakes sticking a little, stripped and cleand them and readjudted them, they feel great now with no judder.
or is it a definit engine judder with the revs hunting, does the judder disappear when you press the clutch?...work permit granted!0 -
is it your wheel alignment? although i think that would proabaly cause juddering during the whole journey and at higher speeds rather than lower speeds, but its always good to check!0

Sounds to me like a possible worn clutch symptom0

My corsa's the same. I dont have a smell of burning rubber though. Its really weird as 1 day it could do it then won't for days then do it again? Mines is always in the morning too, but I thought it was maybe because the car was still warming up. Think I will have my clutch and brakes checked. xx0/2013
