Have seen loads of women in pj's in my local Tesco, complete with a head full of those big rollers too. Do they think it looks good?0

She didn't say that!
What she said was she had only popped in to buy cigarettes, but if she was going in to do a full, proper shop, she would have got dressed.
In other words, she was just going to the cigarette counter, which is usually just inside the door, but if she'd been going right into the shop and wandering around the aisles for a length of time then she would have got dressed.0 -

They are laying the ground to introduce a ban on veils and headscarves. By banning other items of clothing that are not race or faith specific they can then have defence against a charge of racial or religous intollerance, both in the press and in court. My friend was saying that if they do this he will use managers discretion to introduce a ban on Jewish type clothing in his store as it's frequented by lots of Orthodox Jews. Of course because it won't be a ban Jews as such he'll be able to get away with it just the same as not banning Muslims but just the clothes they wear. I look forward to seeing how it pans out.
Very hard to believe. Surely a store manager should only worship the godalmighty dollar, at least on duty: such a ban would be sacrilegious against the religion of capitalism.0 -
Can't really see how difficult it is to put a coat on over your nightwear and slip on a pair of shoes!0

It is not difficult, but I think you (and some others in here) are missing the point.
She didn't go to tesco in her pyjamas because she is too lazy to get dressed, she went in them because she wanted to.0 -

I agree, it is very hard to believe, but if it is true then Tesco will have a very good business reason for doing it. And they will make more money if they do do it.
I don't like Tesco, but I have to admit that when it comes to selling millions of people tons of crap they didn't even want then nobody is as good at it as good as Tesco.
Perhaps, while spying on it's customers, Tesco have found that every time someone in a veil walks into one of their stores 4 other people dump their trolley and walk out. So they will make more money if the keep the veil out and those 4 customer in.0 -
It's a private company they can do whatever the hell they want.
