Is this legal as far as Halifax Reward application goes?

for those of you with excellent memories, you may remember some hassle i had with this account & then my g/f getting refused hers, and then both of us were refused a joint.

She applied again (in between being refused her solo and refused a joint) but changed some of the details.
They weren't outright lying changes, but they were changes all the same. Such as:

on the declined application, her occupation was down as "Other" as dental assistant/nurse wasn't listed.
On the 2nd (and now accepted) application, she put her occupation down as "Nurse" as she technically is a nurse ..... a dental one.

I think her monthly income was changed (down £100) on the 2nd application.

I can't remember too many more of the details. The occupation is the only "major" one i can remember.

Is this A-ok? They're not likely to pull the account from her by claiming she's lead them a merry dance are they?

I also can't see how the job title has swayed it from declined to approved either

Well, the real question is has she actually lied on either application? As in, deliberately misled them?

There is a danger that if you make multiple applications with slightly different details it'll get flagged up as potentially fraudulent.

There is a system called National Hunter. Banks and other institutions submit details of your application form to them. When you apply for other products elsewhere or at the same place, they can check against the National Hunter database to see if you have changed your details since the last application.

No not really. Without looking at the application form with all the details which i doubt i can do, from what i can remember she didn't lie at all, purposely or otherwise. As i say, on her 1st application, she had to select "other" for occupation. On her 2nd one, she selected "nurse" as she is a dental nurse, so tried this instead of using "other". Things like that.
  • the occupation isn't an important part of the application

the fundamental issues on which the refusal was based wont have changed

    You'd be surprised.

A vague "other" will score significantly lower than just about any other answer to that question. It could materially affect the outcome.

While you are probably right, do we actually know that they are?

If not, it's a sweeping statement.

If I remember right, OP posted a week or so ago saying that the account was refused on credit references.

think there was an address issue - possibly not on the electoral roll...although i read and ran, busy week...
