I'm famous! You should have seen my cupboards before i tidied them. LOL!
Seriously, the jars thing isn't as OS as storing things in used marge tubs and stuff. I just got a bit (b)anal about jars last year and went 'jar crazy'. The rest of the house is organised chaos but at least i know where my focaccia seasoning isGrocery Challenge for October: £135/£200

I use those cheap plastic baskets to store things in my cupboards. Pasta/rice/carbs in one, pulses in another, flours in another, etc. Also my cleaning stuff under the sink is all in various baskets so I can just pull them out.
Yes I think my cupboard under the sink is next lolkatholicos wrote: »I'm famous! You should have seen my cupboards before i tidied them. LOL!

I know the jars can be expensive but will pick htme up as I go alone. I did " invest" in some plactic containers with the " click" lids but they will last fewever lolI wash coffee jars, glass sauce jars out for storing things like oxo cubes, cornflour etc.

Yes I keep all my old coffee jars and reuse them for storing lentils, rice, chick peas etc. I also have plastic bins I bought from Wilkos to bulk store flour for breadmaking and baking.Aug GC £63.23/£200, Total Savings £00

I have a combination of bought jars and boxes, re-used boxes and jars, and the actual packaging things come in.
I keep most of my spices in jars - I buy in bulk and then decant smaller amounts into a rack of jars for easy use. The packs then get stored very high up for refilling.
I also keep my baking goods and rice and pasta in large jars, as I had a weevil infestation a few years back (brought in in the flour from shop - as I hadn't even opened the flour yet). So I had to replace loads, and just went out and bought a load of jars then. Since then, I have added some better jars over time - for smaller baking things (like dried fruit, candied peel etc).
I keep stock cubes in an old plastic tub, and I have another where I keep the sachets of ketchup or vinegar we might pcik up but not use when out (I have a small ketchup bottle that I refill with the sachets from McD's etc, and use this for picnics, and even the table at times).
Biscuits and bread have both got their own bins.
But otherwise I keep things rotated around the shelves where I can see them.GC 2010 €6,000/ €5,897

I keep flours, sugars, pulses, dried fruit, coconut, cocoa, stuffing mix, suet, nuts etc in containers. The flour goes in Addis Pour and Store containers - for things like nuts etc I use the Chinese food containers etc. I bought several Addis containers after a weevil infestation as well and then kept adding a couple a month.“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

very! I have a big larder cupboard with drawers full of clear ikea jars with flip top lids. I have drawer for fruit and nuts, one for lentils, pulses and grains, one for baking supplies, one for tins etc. I have 4 huge jars that hold about 3 kilos each of rice, pasta, pl and sr flour which have their own scoops in - these are kept on open shelves. Some stuff is in packets if I don't have enough jars or its something I want to keep instructions for.
sounds like my ideal kitchen - I'd have to evict the rest of the family first though - OH is constantly leaving half open packs of biscuits around.....:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -
I gradually over the past couple of years have bought lock'n'lock storage stuff every time I went to John Lewis in Bluewater.Often the have odd shaped boxes that don't sell as well and reduce them down I have lots now and rarely keep anything in packets.even my bread, biscuits ect are in them i love plastic storage as its so eay to keep the cupboard stacked better.I also keep the small rectangular boxes that take aways are sold in I think you can buy these in a pound shop sometimes .but my family know I use them for storage so they save them for me .They are brilliant for storing fresh food in the fridge as they take up less space.I usually have a stack with grated cheese, chopped peppers, grated carrot ect already prepped in the fridge. My freezer has a typed list held on with magnets on the outside that tells me whats in there and I re-do it at the end of every month. My cupboards also have typed lists on the inside of every door to tell me whatv I have in store and on what shelf I am very organised with my stock rotation of food and could probably go around a month without shopping if I had to.Mostly my shopping consists of fresh fruit and veg as a rule and once a month maybe a top up of meat, fish ect.I had almost five months back in 2007 when I was quite poorly after having a major op and couldn't get out to the shops very easily so I got into the habit of organising my stores. It works wonderfully as I now rarely overspend on unecessary food stuff.0
