For small amounts I tend to use soft marge tubs (500g size) - these are usually suitable for 2 people. For 4 people I generally use 2 litre ice cream tubs.

very! I have a big larder cupboard with drawers full of clear ikea jars with flip top lids. I have drawer for fruit and nuts, one for lentils, pulses and grains, one for baking supplies, one for tins etc. I have 4 huge jars that hold about 3 kilos each of rice, pasta, pl and sr flour which have their own scoops in - these are kept on open shelves. Some stuff is in packets if I don't have enough jars or its something I want to keep instructions for.

I have only just started to put things into jars, plastic containers etc. The reason I started was that every time I clean out my cupboard I have half packets of biscuits, half boxes of cereals etc. Not very MSE the amount of wastage and got me thinking of doing what my mum used to do and have things in airtight container and jars.

Anyone use any interesting thinsg for storage?

I have a pantry where I store my ingredients. I've fastidious about "stock rotation", but never decant into storage jars (apart from spaghetti, as I can't seem to re-seal the pack, so have a Lock'n'Lock box for that :) ).

There's an older thread here with more ideas; I'll add this later to keep suggestion together.

I did have loads of marge/ tupperware for freezing too but the thing I about jars/ boxes is that even half empty they take up space, so I've gone back to ziplock bags for the freezer as can squash more in that way, even if it does upset my slightly ocd need for things to be stacked and ordered.

Ask thriftlady to post her freezer pic - I seriously got organisation/ tupperware envy!

I use those cheap plastic baskets to store things in my cupboards. Pasta/rice/carbs in one, pulses in another, flours in another, etc. Also my cleaning stuff under the sink is all in various baskets so I can just pull them out.

I think this will stand me in good stead as we are all having our kitchens refitted round here (housing assoc) and apparently the workmen jsut turn up on the doorstep one morning and say, "it's your turn for a new kitchen missus" So at least I will be able to empty my cupboards in double quick time :D
