help with creating a backrop screen, bamboo or something else?
hi i want to create a backdrop screen against nextdoors garage wall (its about 20 ft high) i originally wanted bamboo as i love shape and the canes and it will look nice against the brick. I know that i will need to put a barrier down to stop the roots encroaching on everything else in the garden. I dont want conifer trees but is there an alternative or is bamboo my best option. I might also do the opposite fence aswell. overall both lengths are 30ft.

If you go for bamboo, paving slabs laid vertically make a good barrier. The less invasive bamboos are the most expensive, of course.
Another idea might be to use something like tall miscanthus, but there's no way they are going to make 20' (That's a very high garage!)
When I disguised my neighbour's concrete monstrosity, I made a strong trellis out of roofing battens and climbed hydrangea, passion flower and clematis up it, but that was only about 9' at its highest point.0

Possibly put a trained fruit tree against the wall?0

thanks for the replies, i like the bamboos due to there nature, upright etc and i love the canes, think it will male a nice backdropp for other plants in the garden.
here s a pic of what i have to cover (it hasnt got the ivy on it now as that was going into next doors guttering) Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0 Listen to what people say, but watch what people what people do!!0
