Find out what he is studying at school and see if you can take him to local attractions or museums where he can enhance his knowledge. My 7 year old is really into St Bede at the moment, so we're going to a local museum about him in the summer holidays.
Make a gift for his Mam. Don't know what she is into, but he could maybe make some sweets/cakes/biscuits and a gift box to put them in, or plant up a nice planter or something like that.
Yes there is a soft play are. Thought I would take him to the cinema tomorrow and play area is near that.
A gift for mum is a great idea. I have loads of chocolate in the house (ahem!), so we could make something simple with that and then package it nicely. Will ask for some ideas on os board. Mum a chocoholic like me - she might appreciate that after hard day at work.0 -

He also loves helping me out in the kitchen cooking different things. If you dont feel like cooking you can cheat by letting him ice biscuits!
He loves art - craft things aswell.

Great idea we have a glass chess set gathering dust in the dining room.0 -
Thank you everyone. I am feeling much more organised. I have been up in the loft and bought down a selection of toys and videos for when he first arrives. Also found some old wallpaper and a pallette of water colour paint and some brushes. Thought he could paint on reverse of wallpaper. DD though a teenager is going to help. She loves painting so I thought we would get some pads of paper and do some 'copies' of pictues at local gallery. One of the local cinemas has an indoor seating are in the same complex which will be fine for a picnic if weather poor. So tomorrow going to do cinema, gallery and park with big play area/ crazy golf if fine.
I have to stay in for a bit on Tuesday for workmen, so will do cooking, board games, teach chess then.0
