The Windermere Rotary cub and the RAF are putting on their annual FREE Airshow on Sat 29th & Sunday 30th July this year, based around the Glebe at Bowness.
More details can be found here.
Any local will tell you that we get a display from the RAF / Nato countries on a regular basis, but the Annual show is always very popular. Whilst It's free, The Rotary Club will gladly take any donations from you !!:D

Yes you can & quite easily too !!
The event runs on both Saturday & Sunday. & this is where your choice lies !!
Saturday will be a lot easier day to get to the Lake District as the Sunday timetable makes a biot of a mess of things, but on Sunday we get the Red Arrows AND the Battle of Britain Memorial flight, choices, choices. Although after looking at thetrainline.com and putting in a few starting off points, travelling on Sunday seemed to be OK.
The nearest railway station is Windermere and this is served by trains from Oxenholme. Oxenholme is on the West Coast Main line and gets regular services from London to Glasgow, as well as Virgin Cross Country from NE to SW and NW to SE.
From Windermere railway station to "The Glebe" at Bowness is a 1 1/2 mile walk, or a regular bus sevice runs all day. I think that the raod train does the same trip.

Funny I just checked to see where/what the Red Arrows were up to this w/end as I spotted some small noisy planes heading into Turnhouse airport this evening but there was only 4 of them.
Apparently they are at Sunderland tomorrow0 -

When they stay over at RAF Turnhouse they always give a bit of a display as they fly out so I'll watch out for them in the morning :j0
