DVD drive cleaning

I often use my laptop to watch a video, Ive been for a while now and I think the player needs cleaning, I have a cleaning CD with fluid for my hifi CD player, can I use the same thing to clean the DVD drive in my lappy, thanks.

I've used CD cleaning disks with some success on DVD players but as this is a laptop you will have direct access to the laser lens (pretty obvious if you open the tray) for easy cleaning using a cotton bud and some of the fluid (usually alcohol) that comes with the CD cleaning disks. Be gentle with it though.0

Just opened the DVD tray, is the lens that little round shiny bit next to the central disc holder, sorry I can't explain better.0

Yep - just looks like a tiny glass bead. It's set in a carrier that runs up and down the central bar you can see.0
