How do High Street Sales affect Ebay?

I usually have a couple of major clearouts a year and have just emptied a cupboard full of bags of clothes/toys etc that has sat there accumulating since moving in over a year ago.
Just wondered if now is a silly time to list this kind of stuff since the high street sales are in full force and presumably lots of bargain hunters will be otherwise occupied. Does Ebay slow down noticably at sale times? I usually sell as opposed to buy clothes etc after a few disappointing buys so I don't really have a feel for best times to list or times to avoid. Would welcome views from those of you who sell this kind of general household stuff regularly. Then again I still have to wash, iron photograph and list it all so it could be a moot point!

I hadn't really thought about High street sales affecting ebay. I can say though that I had a great day yesterday with things selling that I had listed for ages. Someone on the Amazon thread also reported having had a great day yesterday as well.

I'd guess jumpers, party dresses and winter stuff would go well from September onwards. The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.0

On the powerseller board (I'm a powerseller! (yeah, still haven't got over that yet)) people were saying it always slows down about nowish.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209

Not convinced its the sales but more importantly its the school holidays. Sales have fallen off a cliff in the last week. Maybe I can take a break too!!?? That would be nice.0
