Hi all,
Just a bit of a warning about the 85% LTV fixed / Fixed offset mortgages that Yorkshire BS are currently offering. After applying for, being AiP'd, paying the product fee etc we have just had a manager call us to say that they cannot offer us this product on a flat / maisonette. Sadly this is not advertised in any literature, on the website, in our numerous conversations with their staff, on their application form etc so we put a lot of effort in to securing one of these great looking mortgages to be told "computer says no".
Not quite sure what the deal is on not offering a product on a flat but it's their money. Just a little warning that you will probably get as far down the process as we did before getting it yanked back and your money refunded.
Really left a sour taste in the mouth to spend all this time that they could have saved by advertising this fact or informing us at the numerous opportunities that they had before taking our money.
Bunch of cowboys, I will be steering well clear in the future.
Edit: I forgot to add that they also conducted a credit check, which will of course leave a mark on our file. I know that this may not have an impact but the principle is that it was a completely unnecessary search given that they could not offer us the product they had AiPd.
