Need An Open Source Solution That Does DTP Like MS Publisher Does

I'm looking for some good free software that performs DTP functions, just like MS Publisher would. I plan to use it to produce some 1-2-4 page newsletters (in the first instance) that I'd then print out to PDF.

I could do it in Word, but I am looking for the "flow between sections" type of functionality you get in DTP, where an article would flow through columns, or across pages and round images/etc to fit. So this request is specifically for: DTP software like MS Publisher that is open source.

I'm using OpenOffice, it's a shame they don't have an equivalent.

So, rather than spending a week googling and downloading/installing a whole bunch of poo solutions, I thought I'd ask you lot :)

Cheers

Cheers, I'll give that one a go :)

I don't want to do anything complex .... I'm not a design/layout/creative person, but I do just want that "Newsletter" look/feel.

But OpenOffice doesn't have an equivalent to Publisher.

The only one I'm aware of is Scribus as mentioned above.

OP You could download the Office 2010 Beta which includes Publiser and is free. Bear in mind it's a beta so there may be bugs (although lots of people are using it) and the license expires in October 2010.

Depending on what you need to do Open Office Draw may be worth a look.

Or Serif Page Plus might be better
It's taken me years of experience to get this cynical

Office 2010 Beta (with Publisher included) is still available; fully-functioning but with an expiry date (October 2010 I think). ;)

Draw is a vector graphics program similar to Visio. To the best of my knowledge there is no equivalent of Publisher within OpenOffice.

OpenOffice is good but it doesn't include the same functionality as MS Office.

Where did anyone claim that OpenOffice beta was buggy?
