Prepayment EON to British Gas
Options
I am on a Prepayment Meter
I am currently on EON and requested at xmas time to go onto British Gas. British Gas sent me an email with my account details, rates etc and a switch date of 12th Feb 2010
However I have a few queries which unfortunately I don't have long enough on my dinner to call them and wondered if you guys could help or were in the know:
Does my Prepayment meter stay as it is and automatically just switch to British Gas on the 12th Feb?
What happens to any existing Credit I have left on the Meter, does that carry across to British Gas?
Do I receive a new key to top up my prepayment meter with British Gas or do I use the one EON supplied?
If you can help then many many thanks

Hi webbo
Following a change of supplier, the gaining company will send out a new device to enable Prepayment customers to continue topping up their meters. This should be delivered a couple of days before the changeover date.
This device will need activating following the instructions included. The old device will then be disabled.
Once done, all credit will then need to be bought using the new device. This will ensure the payments go to the new supplier.
Might be an idea to keep hold of any receipts during this changeover period just in case any payments go astray.
Credit already on the meter can continue to be used.
Hope this answers your questions webbo. Give me a shout if you need any more info as will be happy to help.

I work for British Gas, and can say that everything Malc says goers for them too.
One thing I would suggest is to run down the credit on your meter before you use the British Gas key/card (even if it means it is after 12 Feb) as some customers (a small minority) say that when they use the card for the first time, it wipes their credit. It shouldn't do this, but better safe than sorry.
Put the key/card in the meter before you top up with it too.0
