Water Heater Replacement

My flat has white meter storage heating and a dunlowe water heater cylinder that has recently given up the ghost - the thermostat is kaput and the part is obsolete therefore replacement isn't an option.
I've been given three choices: replace my current cylinder with either: a combi cylinder (which apparently might affect my water pressure); a vented cylinder (although apparenlty there's a chance the rest of my plumbing might not withstand one of these?); or finally an instananeous water heater (which I understand might be overlooked in a survey if I came to sell my property).
You might notice a lot of "apparentlys" there - basically I do not have a clue what might be the best option or even if what I'm being told is fact. I have a young son (not yet 2yrs old) so I really need running hot water in the bathroom at least so that we can have baths!
PLEASE can anyone shed any light on these options for me? Money is not an object - I don't want to simply plump for the cheapest option for the sake of saving a few quid, I want to go for the best option.
Thanks so much (in anticipation of replies!).

Personally if you can afford it I would go for the un-vented cylinder option.
Something like a small Megaflo DD140 or even a DD170 would cope with your needs admirably.0 -
