Hi all
I have just relocated, unable to find work at the moment and set up my own business, so busy networking like mad to start gaining some business.
I have just received the gas/electric bill from Eon in my previous flat for £150, I sent them a letter explaining that I have no income and I can pay them £5 per month short term. they have said this is unacceptable and I have to pay them everything in 4 months, which with no income, other debts to pay and eating me and my husband are currently about £400 down. They wont budge and said that they will transfer the debt to another company who MAY make an arrangement.
I am considering ringing for a dmp, this is really stressful and nobody seems to budge, at least I am offering to pay something, I dont understand why they are so desperate to gain that money back in such a short space of time. How am I suppose to pay with no income and no access to tax credits!
Any advice greatly appreciated!

Hi fightclub,
This does sound like a difficult time for you and I do understand that.
You do need to pay for the energy that you have already used, as the account is now closed for the old property, I assume this is the final bill. E.ON would normally expect this bill to be settled in full and from your post I understand that we have offered you 4 months to pay this off.
Unless there is a reason to spread the balance over a much longer period of time (for example errors on the account) E.ON would not be able to allow customers around 2.5 years to pay off final bills.
The other company who may set up an arrangement, will be a debt collection agency.
Therefore, it would be best to try and come to a resolution with E.ON.
Is the new property supplied by E.ON?

Why have you go no income?
A single persons jobseeker's allowance is £64.30 per week.
I'm not sure of your exact circumnstances, obviously, but how come you have no income?
How did you fund your relocation?
What were you doing prior to your relocation? And more importantly, why were you unable to budget for your consumption at that time? How did you plan to pay what you had consumed and what has happened to that money now?
Edit: Just read your previous thread where you explained you gave up your £27000 p.a. salaried job to follow your husband down to Bicester as he was unable to find work where you were in the North East.

Has your husband got work, or is he unemployed still, despite moving to the other end of the country?"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
Hi there
I am self employed and have declared this, I have contacted HMRC regarding any financial support and there is nothing.
My husband is working and has no savings due to the time he was made redundanct then paying for bond etc to rent his accommodation to enable him to start his job. He lost his job 4 months before we got married so that was financially tying and took any spare money we had as I was paying for the both of us and debts.
I had to stay behind to get my accommodation rented (which aslo took money getting electrics and gas serviced etc) and we couldnt afford to see eachother for the 4 months he was down here before I relocated.
My husband is up to the hilt in paying a more expensive rent down here, bills, his student loan, credit cards and food. We have tightened our belts completely!
I have no money to pay my debts and some have been great and some not so great and have given them letters and warnings that this is happening.
With Eon I explained that the £5 was a temporary measure for a month or 2, until I had some earnings, I payed them £70 per month whilst on my own up in the north east but due to the freezing weather this has clocked up but again due to running 2 properties and bills and to fund the transit van that my friend drove me down in (to save money) this has now taken a toll.
I am busy trying to find temp work, as well as network and market the business, but it is a little more difficult when I am well known for the work Ido in the North East but its a new baby down here! On top of this I must pay my work mobile, Internet and Public and Indemnity insurances.
The business I am in is very lucrative but will take a month or two more to show signs of this.0
