Arnold Clark

Hi

I just bought a new car from Arnold Clark on the scrappage scheme. I did it last month because my tax disc was up on the 31st of January.

When I put the deposit down for the car I asked if I could take the car in straight away because the tax disc was running out on the 31st. Was told that this would be ok. So took a day off work getting the car fit for the drive. Then another day off with a friend (also taking the day off) to drive the car up the road. Phoned Arnold Clark in the morning to tell them when we would be arriving. Only then to be told that we couldn't take the car in and would have to wait until our new car was ready in about 2 months.

I almost erupted straight away. I had 3 different conversations with them the week previous discussing where to drop off the car. Now they were saying that these conversations had not happened. Phoned the complaints department at Arnold Clark and they said that they were only a queries department and could not deal with anything that was not in writing. I told them to go and look at their website!

So now I have to declare the car as SORN and hire a trailer to tow the vehicle up the road.

So I probably don't have a leg to stand on because it is not in writing. All calls are supposed to be recorded but I guess this is not the case for complaints.

Any suggestions?
