Nervous of my own challenge - reduce or stop spending!

Hi
I've not been buying toiletries as I have loads and sometimes feel the 'urge' to buy something even though I don't need anything. I thinks it's because buying stuff especially from Lush was a treat when I felt down or peeded off. Now I sometimes buy doughnuts instead. (Might need to follow the weigh-watchers/slimming world thread soon:rotfl::eek::rotfl::eek:)
My one consolation is the money I'm saving (about £120 since the beginning of the year) which I'm going to use to open a savings account.

Thats where my spending habit comes from too getarealbabe (great user name btw haha) I keeping buying food treats, not doughnuts but sweets to feel better. Hence I am on the ww board. I too am stopping this now as its a waste of money. And larmy 16 I too give myself a bit of money but it goes on the above which I need to stop. But if I say no spending I crave an expensive gadget which I end up not ever using. I have a whole list of them!0

I do have a small amount of 'mine to do as I like' money - the problem is that would be nowhere near enough should I give in to my darkest urges for 'stuff'!!!!0

Another good day today. I've had 5 NSDs this week, so £5 in the pot. And I got paid today but haven't spent anything!April Grocery Challenge: £80/£64.39

Count me in the "urge to splurge" group! Like GetRealBabe I also long for something sweet - anything. As I am a diet-controlled diabetic I have to squash that too.
I cope with shopping by not going near shops if I can help it but what can I do about the sugar?0 -
And me.... At the minute though I have a cunning plan.... Every time I have the urge to splurge (which is a lot) and especially online.... I close the webpage and put the money in my savings account through online banking. Spending of sorts and is making me feel so guilty at the amount of money I would normally spend. Good though I have to say to see it mounting up! We can support each other here.
I agree everything is made to think you need the latest gadget or thing. I was reading in my magazine about an artisan mixer costing over £300... it said "It's the I have arrived mixer...Just close your eyes hand over your card and think about the lovely cakes you will be making" If that isn't bad for your pocket I don't know what is!
I am also keeping £20 aside for splurges. Which keeps me on the straight and narrow, will let you know how I get on!Feb GC: £200 Spent: £190.790 -

Thanks Elona, I had forgotten about yoghurt and Options!. I do use fruit and I am not sure I could stop at 2 bits of chocolate but the Options might cover the choc craving.0

I too have this problem! I try to limit it to under a few pounds treat or buy for birthdays. That way I get the feeling of a spend.
I love this concept, it's so e-l-a-s-t-i-c, you can make 'a few pounds' mean anything you need it to to satisfy the urge!
I do agree though, if you give in in a small way it stops you going mad later on. A bit like being on a diet really.Oh dear, here we go again.0
