Okay, house blitz - where shall I start???

Kazonline - thanks for the link! Really good ideas on there - love the idea of singing "Please release me..." to the stuff, lol!
Judi, I'm prepared for that, but siblings know that I'm the "evil" one - I'm the one who'll make them sit until they eat the food I've made them or not give them back what they were playing with until they take up the toys from the stairs ("but it wasn't me! Mummy put them there!" "Yes, for you to take upstairs because you left them downstairs!!!")
Josie - the stuff left around is so battered and misused it wouldn't fetch anything! Painting really horrible picture of my family here, I think everyone's just spoilt. Never been wanting for anything and noone seems to realise the value of things...
Anyway! First day today! Got driving lesson at 11, then 12 onwards is blitz time! Will keep you updated - thanks for all the repliesReturning MoneySaver, now furiously saving for a house deposit...0 -
Sounds like you could do with a skip instead of black bags! LOL
Good luck to you!

good luck
i agree with doing one area at a time and being really ruthless !! if youve not seen / used it in a long time you arent going to miss it when its gone lol
but kids have a habit of then wanting toys etc theyve not seen / bothered with for months ! so i def agree with not letting them see whats being thrown out / given away0 -
A skip would be great :rotfl: - definately enough stuff! And I reckon that would be novelty enough to get the kids involved, lol!
Tackled breakfast room today - cleaned out the fire/fire place (there's actually clean sand under all the coal dust and fluff!!!!), moved a chest of drawers that hasn't been moved in oooh, about a decade, and discovered lots of silverfish - eeeew. Cleaned out all the things that had fallen down the back, treated the silverfish to a hoover and some hot water and stardrops. Mum keeps telling dad to sort the damp...
Cleaned floor, walls etc.
Bin bags very full of kid's stuff (and my own) - although biggest bag IS my dad's! There's a whole drawe full of various electical chargers - going to find out which ones are needed when dad gets in then bin!
Then... burnt my hand. Bl**dy steam. Really annoyed - not only does it REALLY hurt, but it interrupted my blitz! Aaagh...!Returning MoneySaver, now furiously saving for a house deposit...0 -

Aw, thanks! :grouphug: Burn fine now - produced a magnificent blister that boyfriend refused to look at, until I bumped it on a lamp post and it leaked (sorry, graphic...) It now just looks horrible and crinkly, and there's one other little blister that's still intact. Not hurting though.
I'm sure "my burn is fine" would have done there....!Returning MoneySaver, now furiously saving for a house deposit...0 -
Well Done - sounds like you have made a great start! Hope the burn heals properly!0
