Anyone know any good holiday parks in N France?

Options
We don't want to pay a lot for a big family holiday this year but having seen that P&O are offering cheap returns on their Dover Calais route I've been thinking about a holiday park in the Northern France area.

Neither of us have driven in Europe before so I'm looking for something not too far from Calais that has plenty for the kids to do but is also a good base for exploring the local area.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

http://www.eurocamp.co.uk/ and search Picardy area they seem to have 3 or 4 in that part of France

Probably somewhere around maybe the le Touquet area would suit as only 45 minute easy drive from Calais. Plenty of resorts down that coast and they have lovely beaches on the "Opal Coast" but weather no more guaranteed than say southern UK. I wouldn't guarantee on it being cheap though as you are in Euro land

Nice area as an introduction to France though - its what we did a few years ago when kids were tiny. This year we are going back to the Charente maritime area which is about 6-7 hour drive from Calais (its very easy driving in France)

Sunshinetours, if you are going to be near Cholet take a day or two to go to Puy du Fou, it is amazing!!!!!!
Plus the Aquarium at La Rochelle for a rainy day.

What about Boulogne Sur Mer? I've been there a couple of times and it's not far from Calais? There is a fantastic aquaruim there called Nausicca which I would definetely visiting, it changes every year or so with a new theme. There is quite a few shops there and the old town in Boulogne is lovely as it's walled etc and with the Cathedral. I liked it. I've also been to St Omer, which is another town, but I think Boulogne has more for children, ie, the aquaruim.

Hi- we stayed at Eurocamp's La Bien Assisse Park last year for a week. Last minute deal in summer hols staying in a mobile home. The region is Picardy, if I remember, and wasn't very far from Calais (no more than half hour). Coz it was last minute our choice was very limited (but we got it much cheaper). However, I didn't like the park much. Mainly coz I was expecting a much bigger pool :cry:for the kids( should have checked this out more thoroughly-doh!). The "larger" pool was more or less covered (great if weather bad), but not very clean! There was a small water slide in a separate area, which the kids loved. The park had a restaurant which was ok and a small shop. Think it is mainly a park used for stop overs and as a touring base. Having said that, the kids had a lovely time (which is the main thing) and we did find a lovely place called Le Touquet! We loved it here.About an hour away (visited a few times).Lovely beach and an "old fashioned" feel about it. Would visit Le Touquet again. Oh and they have an indoor waterpark on the front there too. Good luck and hope you find somewhere great!:D

Stayed near St Malo roughly 12 years ago in a small resort called Dol-de-Bretagne, Chateau des Ormes. It was good for the kids and had delightful villages dotted about. Took us about 4 hours from Calais if memory serves me right!

    Hi,

Why don't you look at cheznous.com & rent a house .... depending when you are going can get some good rates ....

I would recommend Brittiany / Normandy as they are good for kids & near excellent beaches .... the toll roads are easy to drive on .... ferry from Dover to Boulogne / Dunkirk / Calais .... or Eurotunnel ....
